Contrary to the title, this blog post actually has nothing to do with Taylor Swift (hence the change in spelling) I just thought the title was catchy, cute, and appropriate for what I want to talk about. I was flipping through In Style magazine when I noticed a page that showed different ideas and how to incorporate summer and fall pairings into your wardrobe. I happen to love the idea of summer in winter because it gets you to think creatively and whip up outfits you never thought of because of those “unspoken rules” that we all now rebel against. White slip dresses can be worn with black tights and an over sized cardigan, while floral dresses can be worn in darker shades and with a turtleneck to cozy up. I never thought of wearing a flowing maxi dress with a structured trench coat with booties until I saw that page in the magazine. I thought what a genius idea! The combination of ethereal and tailored is not a new concept but I never saw the trench coat as a versatile piece. Yes, the...

Christian Dior is one of the most iconic legendary designers in fashion. Established in 1946, Christian Dior made a splash in the fashion world designing clothes showcasing the female silhouette by accentuating their waists and highlighting their greatest assets- their curves. At first, women were not too keen on his designs for they felt there was too much material hiding their shape and form. Dior made a daring move by creating clothes that covered more but in a fashionable, elegant way. By manipulating fabrics, his dresses flared out by the waist putting focus on the typically smallest part of the female body and emphasizing their curves. I’m all about petticoats, bodices, and corsets. To me, Dior is the quintessential artist who understands and creates purely for the female silhouette. He emphasizes the femininity and beauty while being edgy and innovative, thus creating the perfect balance for the perfect outfit. Anytime I see an ad in a magazine or an image on Instagram from Dio...

There are many decades in history that designers turn to for inspiration to make “new” again. The 70's has made a major comeback with flowy, bohemian dresses from Chloe and wild printed pant suits ala Gucci. The 1980's has also made its way to modernization with big shoulders from Marc Jacobs and Carolina Herrera, as well as bright neons and rouging silhouettes from Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. But the most unexpected comeback in the world of fashion is the the 1990's grunge-punk trend specifically in the form of plaid. The plaid trend has been around for the last few years but only recently has it made its way to the “classics” where it looks like it’s here to stay among the stripes and color blocks. The iconic movie Clueless portrayed the 90's trends to the fullest with the baggy pants, tube top dresses, and of course, the plaid mini skirts. The “school girl” trend if you will, has taken a more modern approach with classic matching plaid suits to a chic plaid gown with a white butto...

Every season I do a major closet purge to make some room for new clothes (despite my husbands liking). I’ve noticed over the last few seasons that I’ve been getting rid of plain, dull, boring clothing and replacing them with unique, one-of-a-kind vintage pieces. Although vintage has been around forever, it is only recently exploded into the mainstream fashion world becoming its own industry in itself. Every vintage item has its own story, its own character, woven into every stitch and every detail of the garment. Vintage is a special treasure that chooses its owner who is destined to create magic with that particular piece. Today, vintage has made space in the contemporary closet , incorporating its unique charm with a modern twist. Pairing a cropped leather jacket with a velvet, vintage maxi skirt is genius (in my humble opinion). With vintage... the possibilities are endless! Your imagination has the freedom to run wild and create innovative, different looks with items you would gene...

I used to think that to be stylish and fashionable you have to be dressed to the nines in your fanciest dress and highest heels. Skin tight looks were my go-to for so long because I would associate baggier clothing with hiding and detracting attention. My, have things changed! The fashion world has gone through a drastic change over the last decade since The Row took the runway by storm with their minimalism and non form-fitting silhouettes. As the fashion world fell in line, I myself have gone through a transformation where I don’t feel the need to wear form-fitting clothes as much as I used to. After having 3 kids, comfort means so much more to me than wearing something that makes me want to tear it off, just for the sake of fashion. Sunday’s, in the winter, are full of chauffeuring the kids back and forth to birthday parties, making the pizza store a glorified outing, and trying to find an indoor play ground to keep the kids somewhat occupied. On Sunday's, the obvious clothing choic...

If someone were to ask me to describe my personal style I would say without hesitation feminine and edgy. I think that’s an accurate description of me as a person. Cute with some sass, sweet with a bit of fire. Happens to be, my husband  refers to me as The Fire Cracker (yes, it deserves to be capitalized) so it’s only natural that my style matches my personality. Designers like Christian Dior, Giambattista Vali, and Yves Saint Laurent to name a few, are those who I turn to for inspiration when I want to style an outfit. Give me a tulle skirt with a cropped leather jacket and a spiked Louboutin heel (hello Carrie Bradshaw) and the streets of Central Ave become my runway. Whether I’m in the cereal aisle at Gourmet Glatt or on the streets of NYC I’m dressed, to some extent, with some florals and hardware. As everyone knows, personal style is a reflection of ones personal expression, and I’m at a place in my life where I feel confident in not only what I wear but, also with who I am as a...

I’ve always gravitated towards the usual neutral colors of black, grey, and navy, but would try to keep things interesting with a pop of color whether it’s a shoe or an accessory. Lately I’ve been feeling more bold with my color selections picking neons and brights but still staying true to my style. I’m a girly girl at heart but also a wannabe rockstar so however bright I go there’s always an element of edge, whether it’s a combat boot or a slouch beanie. I’m working on perfecting that perfect balance (if there’s such a thing) between just the right amount of pop and hip hop if you know what I mean. When I would get dressed in the past, I would be afraid of a loud color or a bold print because maybe it would draw too much attention and it would lead to distraction. As I’ve matured (I’m such an adult) I’ve found I’m more confident in wearing happier, more fun colors because I actually feel happier and more fun wearing them. I’m learning how to edit my choices and not get lost in the to...

I’ve been struggling for a while on what my first official blog post should be. I started this blog 4 1/2 years ago, only now I am really starting to think about what I want to use my platform for. Instagram, for me, started off as a way to show my passion for fashion. Never did I think that social media would become a full blown industry creating millions of jobs where people could actually build a career from posting pictures of their lives. But when Instagram was just starting to heat up, life got in the way and my #ootd’s had to take a back seat for a bit so I could tend to my babies and figure out what exactly I wanted to do with my life. A standard 9-5 job never appealed to me and I knew I would drown in an office job. My mother always told me I needed to be out in the world, I needed to be seen and surrounded by people.  So when I got the call that I was nominated as one of the Bloggers of the Year for Couture for a Cause, I thought this is my chance to get back into the game, t...
